Players will have the
option of up to 4 characters per server.
Each player character in the game is a human clone with mutated DNA
due to Shiva 7 having infected all the genetic samples used to
create these player clones. The reason all PCs are clones is an
important storyline element that will be revealed to those who
choose to pursue that storyline option.
This doesn’t mean however that all players have to look alike. There
are a variety of ways to make individual characters have a unique
appearance. Many of these choices are listed further down on this
page.
Fallen Earth has a completely class-less system, so the only
decisions a player needs to make at the beginning of the game is the
initial appearance of their character and the character's name (see
below). The actual definition of
individual characters comes from gameplay. This character definition
comes about by how players spend the Advancement Points their
character earns. Players can, during the course of the game, develop
any skills they wish to and can even develop several areas of
expertise as high as they can go with no particular skill set
suffering for it. More information concerning earning and spending
Advancement Points is available on the
Advancement page.
During the character creation process players make selections based
on the following list of standard options (more character models are
being added
in the near future -- more information as it becomes available):
1. Gender specific head models (numerous pre-generated options with
variations in chin, nose, cheekbones and eyebrows - 24 models were named
as the 'bottom of the ballpark'). There are no sliders for adjustments.
2. Skin tone (16 skin tones)
3. Character age (somewhat adjustable with the use of wrinkles,
crow’s feet, and hair color)
4. Eye color (8 colors, some options may be involved with mutations)
5. Hair style and color (the exact number of styles and colors frequently increases)
6. Body scale (currently can be proportionally scaled 10% up or down
from standard)
7. Character accessories:
a. facial hair for males (2 slots) or lipstick and eye-shadow for
females (1 slot each)
b. facial piercings in silver or gold (2 slots – ears, nose, lips &
eyebrows)
c. body hair for males or belly ring for females
d. facial tattoos (2 slots – eyes, mouth, chin, forehead)
e. body tattoos ( 2 slots – stomach, chest, upper and lower back,
arms)
f. war paint (2 slots with many color options and patterns)
8. Basic beginning equipment of shirt, hat, pants, and shoes.
Throughout the game, players will find a variety of methods to alter
their characters’ appearance. Barter towns and other large
settlements offer such things as barber shops and tattoo parlors
where characters will be able to make changes to their appearance.
Face painting kits are another available option for appearance
changes.
Players are able to set their character’s facial expression and
there are a huge range of available emotes and a number of stances
to choose from.
Naming Your Character
Player character names will be limited to a certain, as yet
undecided, number of characters which can include spaces, but not
symbols or numbers. Characters can use given names, nicknames,
surnames, or any combination - as long as it fits in the space
provided.
Player names are currently visible within a ten meter range, or when
a player is targeted. This may be altered in the future.
