Children of the Apocalypse (CHOTA)

Back to Home

The CHOTA have been around since the Fall, but until Redhand showed up they consisted of small roving bands warring amongst themselves and others. The Warlord Redhand, appealing to their destructive nature and desire for conquest, united them despite their propensity towards chaos and rebelliousness.

Although one of the largest factions of the Grand Canyon Province, CHOTA tribes rarely band together to form armies and so are thought by some to be weak and easily defeated. They are quite formidable though when they do decide to band together and attack. Their large numbers, mutations and ferocity create a force to be reckoned with. A prime example of this is the attack, aided by their Vista and Traveler allies, against the Hoover Dam Garrison in 2150. This assault ended the despotism of Alec Masters and freed those people held against their will within the Garrison.

There are many tribes, both large and small, within the CHOTA Faction as well as a wide variety of beliefs and practices. A cross-section of these differences can be found within most settlements.

CHOTA tribal leaders are given the title of Warchief and tribes tend to be autonomous. The only person with any influence over the tribes as a whole – though no real authority over any but his own tribe – is Redhand.

The CHOTA build little themselves and so must depend on their allies for many of their weapons, armor and supplies.

The Enforcers represent everything the CHOTA are against and the Techs are seen by them as weak and the lackeys of the Enforcers. Lightbearers are too structured and controlling to be acceptable to the free spirited and sometimes chaotic CHOTA. The Travelers are considered kindred spirits and The Vistas are long time close friends and allies.

The CHOTA home base, if anywhere could be said to be such, is Six Points located in the southern end of CHOTA Gulch.

Some Sects of the CHOTA are:

Slaughter Kings – see themselves as the ultimate survivors and evolution of humanity and feel all other humans should be made to serve.
Spirit Seers – a shaman dominated group of mutants
Claw of Redhand – the eyes and ears of Redhand
Fist of Redhand – the bodyguards and muscle of Redhand
Quiet Ones – a sect of non-violent CHOTA that prefers to allow society and civilization to collapse without their help.
Tainted – a sect that contains the disfigured and freakish
Blood Horde – a sect who wants to rise up as a mighty army and storm the entire Province killing everyone and destroying all technology.
Oathtakers - A sect only concerned with destroying the Enforcers and the hated children of Alec Masters.
