Travelers

Back to Home

The Travelers are the Province’s providers of pretty much whatever one is looking for - information, spare parts, assassinations, entertainment, smuggling, narcotics, etc. - as long as you have the chips that is. Having only a very casual acquaintance with morals, they can always be counted on to put themselves and/or their wallet first. They are all about business and the bottom line.

The hierarchy of this faction is fully autonomous with each settlement or caravan being ruled by its own leader who chooses their own name and title. Although the Traveler faction is a rather loose affiliation of “families” they do share a common code that was developed during the grand summit of the seven families in 2122.

The Traveler Code:
• Problems within the Travelers are settled with words before blood.
• When a Traveler kills a Traveler, the action must be justified before a neutral arbitrator or the offending traveler must pay a penalty.
• Family before Traveler. Traveler before everyone else.
• Never take a fellow Traveler's last coin or only weapon.
• Once given to a fellow Traveler, a Traveler's word is his bond.

Travelers are seldom heroic since most want only to live to profit another day. But like the other factions, there are variations within this faction as well. Some Travelers want to be popular and well liked, some want celebrity, some seek power and influence, for many though it’s all about greed. Regardless of the variations, they all seek to live without any rules but their own and no Traveler likes to lose.

Due to individual self interests, a Traveler army is unlikely and they are much more inclined to hire mercenaries for large combat operations or general thugs and assassins for simpler work.

Travelers provide a wide range of items to the Techs and maintain a mutually beneficial relationship with them. Although a seemingly strange pairing, the CHOTA are also Traveler allies. The Enforcers with their adherence to law and order are disliked by the Travelers and their careless approach to the environment puts them at odds with the Vistas. The Lightbearers are intolerant of the Travelers’ profiteering and lack of morality so are arch-enemies.
