Welcome to the FE-InfoTerminal!
This website is the joint effort of a team of fans from the Fallen
Earth community. This game has become a bit of an obsession with all
of us so we've spent months researching, compiling, organizing and
putting this information all together so it is easily accessible.
The information presented here comes from videos, podcasts,
interviews, Newsletters, and the ongoing Questions of the Week and
Official Fictions. These information sources range in date from 2004
to present and are listed for your convenience on our Resources
page. We do our best to ensure the information provided here is as
accurate and up-to-date as we can make it, but since Fallen Earth™
is still in development, all of the released data is subject to
change as the developers work their magic and decide what works and
what doesn't. Like the game, this site is subject to change as new
information becomes available and we’ll continue to update here as
soon as we can when new information is released. We’re here for the
duration and hope you are too!
QotW Dev Notes - 10/2/2008
From the desk of Lee Hammock:
This week we’ve got something special. By way of apology for last week and folks asking for info from Alpha, we’ve got an Alpha FAQ one of the testers put together for us. The names have been removed to protect the innocent and some older questions that are no longer relevant due to bug fixes and such have been removed. Please bear in mind that this is a glimpse into the nuts and bolts of the Alpha Testing process, and reflects a game that is still being tweaked both creatively and technically.

Fallen Earth Releases More
Environmental Screenshots - October 7, 2008
This week, Fallen Earth™
is excited to share three new screenshots of a few areas in
the game. Fallen Earth has three sectors of
game play initially: The Plateau, compromised of the red
desert sands and barren wastelands characteristic of the
Grand Canyon; Northfields, an area of grassy wheat fields
that easily camouflages a variety of giant bugs and
creatures including prairie chickens, blight wolves, and
sand works; and Kaibab Forest, an environment with many more
trees and scrubby foliage where creatures such as the
sasquatch, mutant super soldier, and chupacabra abound.
The screenshots below are of the Horse Track Bar in Kaibab
Forest, Cult of the Dead Lair in Northfields near Devon
Township, and The Dump, a player-conquerable town in the
northern part of Northfields.

Backstory
(condensed from
www.fallenearth.com):
No one is sure where it came from or how it actually
started.
The Shiva virus first showed itself in 2054, as a deadly
influenza type epidemic, in the region between India and
Pakistan. Tense political differences and volatile tempers
lead to horrific attacks being launched. Hundreds of
thousands in that area of the globe died within the first
few hours of the nuclear devastation that followed. Those
detonations blasted debris and radiation – as well as the
Shiva virus – into the atmosphere. There Shiva mutated to
again descend on a chaotic and fearful world. Humankind
launched more nuclear attacks against one another all around
the planet. Civilization collapsed within a matter of weeks
with only a few secluded areas left capable of sustaining
life. |

Historic Odenville -- Sector 1 |
Shiva continued to mutate until it reached the non-lethal stage of
Shiva 7. Those infected displayed similar symptoms as in the
original Shiva infections, but this time they recovered and Shiva 7
became dormant in them. By this point more than 90% of the
population had perished and of those who still lived, most were
infected.
Over the course of decades however Shiva 7’s effects on human DNA
began to manifest. The virus had dramatically altered the human
genome causing a variety of mutations in its human hosts.
The year is now 2154 and players find themselves isolated in the
Grand Canyon Province of the American southwest. Explore the world
of Fallen Earth. Make the choices throughout the game that will
evolve your character, choose a socio-political faction to align
with or remain neutral in the conflict – if you can. Discover the
adventure that is Fallen Earth and play a part in shaping the future
of the region’s last bastion of humanity.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fallen Earth™ is an exciting new
post-apocalyptic MMORPG currently in development with FPS style combat that will raise the
standard of gaming to a whole new level. It features a completely
classless system where characters are defined through gameplay
rather than at their initial creation; a highly developed and
involved crafting system where crafters are genuinely an intrinsic
part of the game world; player versus player combat that has an
important influence on the story; and many, many other stimulating
features that will appeal to a wide variety of gamers and play
styles.

Updates -
10/9/08:
Apologies
from the staff on the lack of sidebar updates. A number of
projects came up during the last month and change, which forced a number
of things to get pushed to the back burner. The primary updates
have still been posted as they have come up, however.
The latest information released, a full-blown Alpha FAQ from one of the
testers, is packed full of mechanics information and specific gameplay
data. Should make getting involved in the game a lot easier from
the start! The latest news release grants us the first looks at
Sectors 2 and 3, with the excellent screenshots from Kaibab Forest and
Northfields.
8/12/08:
In a
press release earlier today, the
official announcement from the developers stated that official Alpha
testing will begin on August 14th. Signups will occur on
Gamespot.com around noon on the 13th, and participants who qualify will
begin to receive emails on the 14th with the requisite information and
download links.
8/7/08:
A release
earlier today showcased five new screenshots from the revamped Tutorial,
and gave further information as to how the events in the wasteland came
about.
8/2/08:
A recent
increase in activity by previously shy developers has led some to think
that the announced Alpha testing for August 6th is just the first step.
Most of this week's QotW dealt with community issues, such as whether or
not beta will be pay-to-play. For the record, Lee has stated that
it will NOT be.
7/28/08:
Earlier
today, members of the Official Forums stumbled across an advertisement
on Gamespot, stating that Alpha Signups would begin shortly. This
has been confirmed by the development staff. To be eligible, all
that is required is a Gamespot free account. Be there, August 6th!
7/24/08:
This
week's
QotW gives out some great update information in the Dev Notes,
particularly about the kinds of 'town events' that will be prevalent
throughout the game. Also, a hint was dropped alluding to future
server events, which at this point may include reclaiming some towns on
the Wasteland from raiders or the Infected! See:
** Game World
** Mounts & Vehicles
** Creatures
7/21/08:
A new
early week update, this time focusing on the vehicles within Fallen
Earth. Five new screenshots have been released, showing the
in-game rendering of different types of vehicles, as well as a bit of
information about the strengths and weaknesses of some of them. |
