Sectors and Towns

  Back to Home

There are approximately 20-25 towns in each sector. Of these:

a) 1 is a barter town that is neutral and has trade infrastructure like auction houses, banks, etc.
b) 6 are faction towns, one for each faction. These towns will attack enemy faction members, but will not attack neutral characters.
c) 5-8 are conflict towns that players can battle over.
d) 5-8 are neutral towns that have no PvP or faction dependent content.

Current information gives the following numbers for towns:
For release: Around 80
Laid out but not ready for release: 30
Partially laid out: 10
Written up but not laid out: 30
Bare bones writeup: 60

Players will be able to select from 18 starter towns in the first sector. The selection list will include a short description of the features within the town (crafting locations, access to PvP areas, combat, etc...) The towns in each county are tied together in terms of story and background. Each town has its own stories, missions, merchants, items, tradeskill knowledges, etc.

Sectors

As of the Feb 06, 2008 Question of the Week, these sectors - as well as an average size based on travel time - have been confirmed.

  Travel Time (on Foot)

Sector 1 - Plateau

2 hours, North to South

Sector 2 - Northfields

1.5 hours, East to West

Sector 3 - Kaibab Forest

2 hours, North to South

Sector 4 - Grainway

2.5 hours, North to South

Sector 5 - Siller's Canyon

2 hours North to South, but due to terrain features, travel time may be closer to 4 hours

** Traveling on foot from the South end of the Plateau to the South end of Siller's Canyon will take upwards of 13 hours due to radiation, plague, and transitional zones.  The above five sectors represent approximately 30% of the overall map.  Remaining areas of the map are slated for future expansions.

The provided map is from GenCon 2007, and has recently been stated as being somewhat inaccurate due to town revamps and such.  The basic terrain may still be accurate, but this is unconfirmed at this point.
